pacsmell DSL

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRGH!!!! i’ve just about had it with Pacbell DSL. i was chatting with Tracy tonight (around 1am — yeah, we’re night people) and she said she was gonna get some water. so i waited for a while. no biggie. then i thought it was odd that she didn’t get back like after 10 minutes. so i sent off a smartass “you must be really thirsty” message. still no response. hmmm… so then i sent off a test IM to myself, and it didn’t echo back to me. that’s when i figured something was up. sooo, i booted up to windows (since GAIM doesn’t use the Oscar protocol, and i thought maybe that was it) to try AIM. still no go. wouldn’t connect. tried Yahoo messenger. that wouldn’t connect either. i even tried to use the java-based AIM but it timed out when i tried to get into aol.com. even the ‘messenger’ link off yahoo.com timed out. by then i was freaking so i sent off a message to Tracy saying i’m having connection problems. but then i realized it might be pacbell so i decided to send off a message via my webmail account. and sure enough, that message got there before the pacbell one did. she said i should try ICQ. great idea. tried to download that from icq.com. timed out. weird. so i snagged it off a mirror site from download.com, installed it, ran it, entered in my ICQ# and password. then i got a message saying it couldn’t connect to the ICQ servers… WTF??!!! how is it possible that i still have net access but can’t access AIM, Yahoo Messenger, and ICQ, AND their sites. grrrrr…. so Tracy and myself just played email tag for a while and called it a night… thanks a lot, pacbell.
