me news

i’m still alive. since the job search has still been leading to nowhere, i decided to take a java class at a local city college (PCC). i got all the paperwork done last week and all i needed was a copy of my transcript from Cal Poly to show that i satisfy PCC’s prerequisites for the java class — an Intro to Computers class, and certain programming classes (Basic, Fortan, Assembly). so i picked up the transcript today and went down to PCC and met with an “advisor” to show that i meet these requirements. at Poly, i took Intro to PCs, and Computer Engineering II (which goes over x86 Assembly and more), but the advisor looked over this book and said that she believes the classes i took don’t meet their prereqs and gave me an Enrollment Challenge form that i have to fill out and turn in to the Dean of Counseling, along with any supporting documents to show that i can take the class even though i don’t meet the official prereqs. hmmm… do you think a copy of my BSEE diploma would show them that i know enough about computers? i’m thinking about doing that. and if not, there’s always the transcript showing that i aced the 2 prereq classes at Poly. if i do turn in this form, i’m only doing it to make a point, since it takes 5 days to process and by then i’m pretty sure that the java class will be closed. Tracy suggested looking into online courses and i might be going that route. in the meantime, i just got a short gig doing a website for an insurance company and i’m really looking forward to starting it. it’s going to be so good, that everyone else will regret that they passed me over for all the web positions that i’ve applied for. heh heh heh.
