stargazer
so this past weekend, Tracy and i went up to the mountains east of Alpine and for the first time, i got to see the night sky without any “light pollution”. it was one of the coolest things i have ever seen. i knew there would be a lot more visible stars compared to viewing from the city, but it just went way beyond what i had imagined. it was truly breathtaking. i also got to see my very first falling star, and i think i even saw a satellite. i read that satellites can be seen by the naked eye, and the object i saw was definitely moving and was too high to be a jet. and the sound out there was something i never heard before — near complete silence. just some crickets and the sound of the wind. i wish we could have stayed there longer because i could have just stared at that sky for the rest of that night. we’ll have to go back sometime and camp.
