where do you want to go today?

there was this article linked on slashdot about how laid-off techies are getting desperate and working for peanuts. reminded me of when i was in starbucks a few days ago and the guy behind the counter was discussing the merits of postgreSQL with a customer. considering how the economy still sucks, and unemployment is as high as ever, it shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did. first thing that came to mind was “what the hell is this guy working at starbucks for??” damn… i feel sorry for new CS grads. “you’ll always have a job in computers” — yeah right. tell that to all the paper MCSE’ers out there. can you say devaluation? i knew you could.
