i hate arco gas. what’s worse is 87 octane arco gas. i filled up on it a few days ago, trying to save some pennies and i feel like i’m driving a 4-cylinder truck now. acceleration sucks and i have to mash a little harder on the gas than normal. bleh. stay away from arco. bleh. arco bad. mess you up.
it’s mod time again. this time it’s not for my computer. i just did this really simple and cheap way to get more power out of my taco. i’ve had the parts for a while and i finally got around to installing it. instructions and pics are here. took about 2 hours tops.
i just spent a good amount of time reminiscing on this site about Prodigy Classic. Prodigy (or *P) was my very first online experience. it even pre-dates my BBS days. i got it back in 92 and was a member for around 2 years. if you want to see what the interface looked like, click here for an index of random screenshots. pretty primitive looking, but back then this was waaaay cool. it was cool watching the line art draw out, which probably had to do with the 2400 baud modem i had at the time. =) i remember my ID — NRKG37A. i remember how cool it was to see the “NEW MAIL” text with a flashing box around it appear right after you logged in. i remember the email limits we had. only 30 a month. after that, it was 10 cents extra for each one. and not only that, you could only send 4 pages max in an email. and by a page i mean 20 lines of text, 60 columns per row. that’s tiny! i remember beta testing Prodigy Chat. i remember beta testing Prodigy Bulletin Board Note Manager. i remember the Core/Plus pricing plan, after which a lot of us jumped ship and moved to AOL (i wonder what happened to them?). i remember playing that CEO game with my buddies. i remember when they introduced (with much fanfare) photo-quality pictures. i remember when testing out their 14.4k lines. oh, and most important of all, *P is where i first met Tracy. yep, she’s a geek girl too. in fact, the very first email i ever got was from her. how cool is that??? =)

i went over to longo toyota to see if they had the new 2001 tacoma trucks in, and they had a couple. i’ve been driving by like every other day to see if they had ‘em and they finally do. all i have to say is that i want one. bad. they finally made some changes to it that i was hoping they would do for the 2000 model, which is what i have. first off, they redesigned the front end. new grill design and reflector style headlights — the kind with the clear glass lens and the prism-like reflector. it also has beefier looking wheel well fenders, new wheel styles like the tundra, and tailights like the tundra. inside, it has white-faced gauges (sweet!), a tweaked center console with bigger cupholders and center armrest, and the door panels are a little different. i asked the sales scum guy if they had the double cabs in stock, and he said they would come in next month. that’s what i’m holding out for. it looks to be a 4-door truck with a usable bed (2 feet longer than the nissan crew cab bed). so i must save up some more for the down…
