PS2 Broadband

So I applied to beta test Sony's Ethernet Network Adapter for the PS2, and today I got an email saying that I qualify to test. After logging on to their beta test site, and agreeing to their terms and conditions, they said I should be receiving hardware later this month. Very cool.

I'm wondering what kind of things I'll be able to do with this. From what I read, it just seems like I'll get the adapter and a startup DVD. If it's anything like the PS2 broadband services in Japan, there should be instant message, jukebox, and video streaming capabilities (using Real). But I believe those also require the hard drive add-on to work. So I dunno. We'll see...

It's been a while since I beta tested. The last thing I beta-tested on was cough Windows 98. Before that was testing Global Network Navigator's software (AOL's sister ISP that was eventually dumped), AOL 3.0, Prodigy Bulletin Board Note Manager, Prodigy Chat, and Prodigy 14.4k access. For some of those, I got some cool "thank you" gifts. Prodigy gave me a cheesy looking "Bulletin Board Note Manager" lapel pin, AOL sent me free floppies and CDs over the years, and MS gave me a license to install and use Win98 on 10 machines.

Would be nice if Sony let me keep their warez. =)
