Stargazer
So this past weekend, I went up to the mountains east of Alpine and for the first time, I got to see the night sky without any "light pollution." It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I knew there would be a lot more visible stars compared to viewing from the city, but it just went way beyond what I had imagined. It was truly breathtaking. I also got to see my very first falling star, and I think I even saw a satellite. I read that satellites can be seen by the naked eye, and the object I saw was definitely moving and was too high to be a jet. And the sound out there was something I never heard before – near complete silence. Just some crickets and the sound of the wind. I wish I could have stayed there longer because I could have just stared at that sky for the rest of that night. I'll have to go back sometime and camp.
