Yup

Hope everyone had a decent Thanksgiving. Went back home to LA and got together with family, so that was nice. Unfortunately, my weekend stay with the family was cut short and it didn’t have to be. I was basically “on call” on Saturday and Sunday, which meant I had to be in SD by Friday night. And as luck would have it, there wasn’t any work to be done, so I did my best to keep myself occupied those 2 days.

I finally got my computer up and running with Gentoo, which is a good thing, because I’ve just been using XP on it for the last 2 months. Once again, I am in control of the OS, and not the other way around (can you say annoying .NET popups?). I’ve figured out what my problem was all this time. For some reason Gentoo 1.4’s mke2fs program is b0rked and chokes when I try to create an ext3 filesystem. It always complained about some invalid cluster size. So my workaround was to use the Gentoo 1.2 install disc to boot up and partition, and then just grab the 1.4 stage2 tarballs. Works like a charm. Got the new yummy screenshot to prove it.

As far as work goes, I’m starting to get more hours. I have yet to work a full 40-hour week, but this week should be different. Also looking forward to the company holiday party next week, which is happening at Dave and Busters. Free food, drinks, and game card. How sweet is that? =)
